The right of access to the media is primarily about the tension between the positive effects of (child-friendly) media and the protection of children from the negative influences in and by the media. Article 17 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, first and foremost, emphasises the positive character of the media, effectively ensuring that every child has the right to receive all the information they need from the media. These include, for example, the radio, books, newspapers, the computer and other sources. However, adults must make sure that this information is child-friendly and that children are adequately protected.
